Our Story Starts in 1974.

It was a pretty big year for “aha’s”. The Pioneer 11 probe discovered Jupiter’s incredible Great Red Spot. Television’s beloved “Happy Days” premiered on ABC. Post-It Notes and the Rubik’s cube were invented. Most importantly, our founder, Kent Ahlswede, had his own “aha” moment.

After many years as a successful CPA, he had a realization: Business owners needed help managing employees. His solution? The beginning of what is now Allevity:

  • 1974: Kent Ahlswede founds Staff Resources, Inc. to provide business owners a way to outsource employee management tasks.
  • 1985: Kent helps found the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO) to guide, protect, and assist full-service organizations like Staff Resources, Inc.
  • 1995: Craig Ahlswede, Kent’s son, joins the team to help grow the business.
  • 1999: Employer Concepts is born to serve additional employee management needs. Craig’s brother Kevin leads this new division.
  • 2006: Craig is appointed President of Staff Resources, Inc.
  • 2012: Staff Resources becomes “Allevity,” a combination of “alleviate” and “levity.” Because we believe having employees should be easy.
  • 2016: Allevity acquires Anderson Recruiting & Staffing.
  • 2018: All divisions unite under the name Allevity Employer Solutions, a further indication of the ease and relief we provide.
